Shipping Info and Other Conditions of Sale

CKCW uses FedEx for our shipper but we will endeavor to follow specific shipping instructions if you have another preference. (i.e purchasers of larger shipments may prefer a commercial trucking company).  Such instructions should be indicated at time of purchase or emailed to cheri@ckcollectorwine.com

Shipping rates will vary based on the number of bottles, and the size and weight of your order. Rates will also change as expedited shipping methods are selected.

There are 5 options when you are asked for ‘Shipping Method’:
  1. FEDex Ground - (depending on your address it may indicate 'Home Delivery').   Also please use this when shipping in Florida most orders will arrive the next day (2-3 days in the East & 4-6 days in the west).
  2. Fed Ex Express Saver ( 3 days)
  3. FedEx 2 Day
  4. FedEx Standard Overnight.
  5. Customers may make arrangements with CKCW to pick up their order at our Venice Florida address by contacting us by email: cheri@ckcollectorwine.com

Please make sure an adult over 21 years of age is available to sign for delivery. If there is nobody home to accept the package, please contact FedEx (1-800-GO-FEDEX) immediately to make arrangements necessary.  A good option is to ship to a commercial address or re-direct the package to a local FedEx office OR WALGREENS where you can pick it up.  Wine cannot be shipped to a PO Box.  Avoid the return of your package, as that will cost additional fees to be re-shipped. Please note: in case of delivery failure followed by order cancellation, shipping charges are not refundable.

We currently ship to Mainland United States but we cannot ship to the following states: Alabama, Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah. For more information on state laws concerning shipments of alcohol, visit: Wine Institute

CKCW has stored the wines properly at our temperature controlled and monitored cellar in our warehouse.  We opt to ship early in the workweek to prevent the possibility of wine sitting in a warehouse over a weekend.  We also reserve the right to HOLD wines for shipment if the weather in Florida or the Destination State could prove detrimental to the wine  (i.e. over 85 degrees F or under 40 degrees).

Summer Wine Shipping:

JUNE THROUGH SEPTEMBER we will not ship from our Florida base due to generally higher temperatures that can be detrimental to the wine,  UNLESS you recognize the risks OR special arrangements are made ( i.e. overnight or INSULATED SHIPPERS WITH GEL PACKS* ).   Of course wines may be ordered online and picked up at our Wine Cellar/warehouse in Venice Florida by appointment.

You may still order and be assured your wines will be kept in our climate controlled and security monitored Cellar.    We will ship when cooler weather prevails in late September or October.

Ownership, location of sale and responsibilities of Purchaser/Buyer

Title to, and ownership of, all wine and other purchase on the Casey Key Collector Wine site passes from seller to purchaser/ buyer in the State of Florida, and buyer takes all responsibility for shipping the wine/other products from Florida to his or her home state. Florida Sales Tax will be charged at time of purchase.  By placing an order, purchaser/buyer authorizes seller (Casey Key Collector Wine - CKCW) to act on buyer’s behalf in arranging for transportation of the wine at the buyer’s direction. Alternatively, purchaser/buyer may choose to pick up the wine at seller’s location, or make independent shipping arrangements. Seller makes no representation as to the legal rights of anyone to ship or import any wines, alcoholic beverages or other goods into any state. Any shipment that is seized or destroyed due to violation of shipping laws or common carrier policy is not refundable.

Condition of Wine at time of sale.

As mentioned in ‘Our Story’, the basis for our inventory is wines we accumulated in our restaurant for over 30 years.  Be assured that they were always kept in a climate controlled area and usually in one of our cellars at 57-60 degrees F and 70% humidity.   However periodic inventorying and storage on redwood racks may have affected the label condition.  Some Burgundy labels are notorious for ‘mildewing’ during proper storage.  If a wine we offer has a condition less that excellent (torn or stained label or capsule) we will inform you and send a digital photograph prior to shipping and for your approval.

We make no claim as to condition of the wine in the bottle other than it has been properly stored and in our possession since purchase from a wholesaler/distributor.   Unfortunately, return of a wine because of ‘old age’, ‘over the hill’ , ‘tastes off’ etc will not be honored.  We’ve always been either thrilled, pleasantly surprised or somewhat disappointed when opening an older wine.    But that is the joy, pleasure and adventure of being able to drink older wine that allows the tertiary flavors that only time produces.    In other words, just because we offer a 20 year old American chardonnay for sale doesn’t guarantee it’s at peak condition!
